The Civil War Pension Files of Green and Harriet Dameron of Missouri. of Missouri.

  Tadd Dameron of Cleveland, OH, & New York City.  Jazz musician

 Gene Hovis, a native of North Carolina, has been a caterer, restaurant consultant, professional chef, and food stylist.  A notable figure in New York City social circles, he has been featured in the in the New York Times and other publications. The International Best Dressed List for 2000-2001 included Gene Hovis as one of the Best-Dressed Men of the Year.
He is the author, with Sylvia Rosenthal, of Uptown Down Home Cookbook, Little, Brown & Co., 1987.
In this work, Mr. Hovis writes of his maternal grandmother, Mary Cooper Dameron.  She was born in the mid-1800s in North Carolina, the daughter of slaves.  As a young child she was taken into the home of a British-born family named Cooper.  She married George Dameron and had seven children.  Mr. Hovis briefly shares some of his memories Granny Dameron.
